Bilge Water Discharge Monitor (MEPC 107)

Bilge water is water that drains from the vessel decks and machinery spaces into the hull and the bilge tank via scupper drains. This discharge is restricted under MARPOL Annex I as it may have come into contact and mixed with oil.

The Oil Content Monitor (OCM) is located on your OWS (Oily Water Separator) and designed to monitor and control the discharge from the vessel’s oily water separator. It ensures that the oil content does not exceed the legal limit of 15 PPM (parts per million) as denoted under the legislation MEPC.107(49).

The OWS separates the oil from the water and the OCM confirms that the process has been done for environmental and compliance purposes.
