SMART CONNECT
SMART CONNECT is a compact interface module that links SMART BILGE+ and SMART ODME (where applicable) directly to an electronic Oil Record Book (eORB) or Fleet Intelligence software over the vessel’s LAN. Installed between the monitoring equipment and onboard software, it provides a reliable, automated pathway for compliance data to move from the machinery space to digital systems—eliminating the need for manual data transfer.
Traditional Oil Record Book entries rely on manually compiled data from multiple sources, making the process time-consuming and prone to errors or inconsistencies. As vessels transition to digital record-keeping, the need for accurate, traceable, and inspection-ready data becomes critical—particularly under increasing regulatory scrutiny.
SMART CONNECT automatically captures live data from SMART BILGE+ via RS485, stores and totalises the information, and securely transfers discharge summaries to the eORB or Fleet Intelligence system via an Ethernet API. This reduces the crew’s role to a simple review and approval step, improving efficiency while ensuring consistent, reliable, and compliant record keeping.

Our services
Since being founded in 1983 in the UK, we have a developed a deep understanding of the environmental regulations that relate to oil-in-water monitoring.
Rivertrace is regarded as a leading authority on the interpretation of the environmental regulations into practical recommendations and solutions for marine, offshore and industrial applications.
We apply this knowledge in two ways:
- To design oil-in-water monitoring devices and systems that create operating efficiencies
- To advise our customers on the most appropriate product solutions and processes for their operations
