CASE STUDY

OIL IN WATER MEASUREMENT

CLIENT: INDIAN OIL CORPORATION LIMITED, BHARAT PETROLEUM CORPORATION LIMITED, RELIANCE INDUSTRIES LIMITED

Water condensed during the storage of hydrocarbon fuel must be periodically removed.

Over time, hydrocarbon storage tanks will accumulate certain amounts of “free” water which ultimately settles at the bottom of the storage tank. This water comes from various sources such as tank venting, leakages or even from the hydrocarbon itself; and regularly must be removed to prevent degradation of the hydrocarbon and to prevent corrosion at the base of the tank.

The Indian Oil Corporation Limited, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited and Reliance Industries Limited worked with Rivertrace to introduce an accurate monitoring system for the monitoring of oil in periodic water removal from hydrocarbon storage tanks to meet regional regulations.
