CASE STUDY

PURENOX PRIME DISCHARGE MONITOR

CLIENT: ALFA LAVAL

Alfa Laval worked with Rivertrace to find a solution for monitoring oil in circulation water and bleed-off water that is discharged from the PureNOx Prime complete water treatment system which is used in an Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) circuit in compliance with IMO Resolution MEPC.184(59).

The process of water treatment in an Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) system is such that the system cleans the bleed-off water similar to in a bilge water setup.

This means that the bleed-off water discharged from an EGR falls under the requirements of the MEPC.107(49) discharge legislation for Machinery Spare Bilges of Ships.

By assessing the oil in water monitoring requirements of the PureNOx Prime system, Rivertrace were able to provide an oil in water monitoring system that met all of Alfa Laval’s technical requirements to ensure continued oil in water compliance with international regulatory requirements.
