Portascanner® WATERTIGHT

Rivertrace represents the Portascanner® WATERTIGHT, ultrasonic watertight integrity tester, in Thailand, Philippines, and Hong Kong.

The world-leading ABS & RINA Approved Portascanner® WATERTIGHT identifies leaks in a wide variety of watertight, airtight or weather-tight seals such as hatch covers, doors and multiple cable transits, with decibel readouts to satisfy classification society requirements.

In SOLAS Reg II-1/11.1 it states that hatches and watertight seals must be regularly tested: “Where a hose test is not practicable [sic] it may be replaced by [sic] an ultrasonic leak detection test or an equivalent test. In any case a thorough inspection of the watertight bulkheads shall be carried out.”

The Portascanner® WATERTIGHT provides a fast and highly accurate method for checking any critical watertight or airtight seal for leak sites, with results in decibel and mathematical linear. Particularly popular with Bulk Carrier operators, this allows all hatch covers to be inspected, ensuring all leaks can be repaired before port departure. This drastically reduces the chance of cargo damage and increases the safety of vessel and crew. Also regularly used on Cable Transits (MCTs), Watertight Doors, Hatch Covers and other similar applications.

The Portascanner® WATERTIGHT has two main components: the Generator and the Receiver. The Generator produces a powerful ultrasonic signal, which is placed inside and fills any compartment being tested.
